Category: Survivors Who are Grieving-General
About the author: Christina Rasmussen
Christina Rasmussen wrote a master’s thesis on the stages of bereavement in 1998. However, when her own husband died of a three-year battle with colon cancer, she realized that nothing about her thesis helped her with her grief. As most who are helpful to others who are grieving, she had to experience first-hand the suffering to really understand their pain.
Short Synopsis: Family Survivor Kathy Johnston, whose husband Kevin died in the crash of Colgan Air/ Continental Airlines, Flight 3407 first told me about the book. It helped her greatly and when I read it I could see why. The author gives great insight into how best to navigate the grief experience which is made up of an old life and a new life. Rich with examples and stories, I now recommend this book to survivors who find themselves without their partner.
